is the Medical Director of Sonoma Skin Dermatology, a and Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.
Dr. Knuttel graduated from Seton Hall University , in 1981, with a BS in Biology. She was awarded the Biology Medical as the top-graduating student.
After completing her Internal Medicine Training at Tufts-New England Medical, she did her dermatology residency at UC Davis. During her third year of residency, Dr. Knuttel received the Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Grant and completed a mentorship in hair disease at the University of California, San Francisco.
After completing her residency in 1997 Dr. Knuttel stayed on as faculty member as a general, surgical & cosmetic Dermatologist. In 2001, Dr. Knuttel joined the Division of Plastic Surgery at the UC Davis Medical Group. At that time, she developed expertise in non-invasive cosmetic procedures including: BOTOX© Cosmetic, dermal fillers, laser therapies, microdermabrasion and skin care.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, is on the Council for Nail Disorders, and is on the Board for the Northern California Dermatology Society.
Dr. Knuttel continues to each medical students, residents and Dermatologists about acne, hair and nail biology, cosmetic dermatology and has authored articles on lichen sclerosus of the vulva, hair loss, dermabrasion, teledermatology, and clinical dermatology in peer-reviewed journals.
