 is the Medical Director of Sonoma Skin Dermatology and Laser Center, a and Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at the University of California, Davis Medical Center.
Dr. Knuttel graduated from Seton Hall University , in 1981, with a BS in Biology. She was awarded the Biology Medal as the top-graduating student.
After completing her Internal Medicine Training at Tufts-New England Medical, she did her dermatology residency at the University of California, Davis. During her third year of residency, Dr. Knuttel received the Women’s Dermatologic Society Mentorship Grant and completed a mentorship in hair diseases at the University of California, San Francisco.
After completing her residency in 1997 Dr. Knuttel stayed on as a faculty member as a general, surgical & cosmetic Dermatologist. In 2001 Dr. Knuttel joined the Division of Plastic Surgery at the UC Davis Medical Group. At that time she developed expertise in noninvasive cosmetic procedures including BOTOX© Cosmetic, Fillers, Laser therapies, Microdermabrasion, Leg vein treatments & skincare.
She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Lasers in Medicine & Surgery as well as a member of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the Council for Nail Disorders, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society.
Dr. Knuttel is on the National Education Faculty for Allergan and teaches doctors and nurses about the proper way to treat wrinkles. She continues to teach medical students, residents and Dermatologists about acne, hair and nail biology, cosmetic dermatology and has authored articles on lichen sclerosus of the vulva, hair loss, dermabrasion, teledermatology & clinical dermatology in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Knuttel is married to Sonoma wine maker William Knuttel. She spends her quality time with her family and her Andalusian mare, Dama. She enjoys Yoga and Barefoot running. She is a member of the California Dressage Society and the Empire running club.
